Interview with Brian W. Smith

Brian W. Smith, has written several different novels. Some of his work includes Donna Dilemma, The Swap Game, Nina's Got A Secret and his most recent work Donna's Comeback. Brian is a very talented author who has a great gift. He has even brought new talent to the game such as Donna Deloney, Elaine Flowers, EINTOU and etc. I had the opportunity to talk to Brian again. Check out the interview.http://hollygrovepublishing.com/

Brian, I have had pleasure of meeting you several times. We can truly say you are one of our favorite authors. The passion that you have for writing shows in your books. You bring new and exciting authors to you publishing company who has a special gift also. Thanks for taking the time and sitting down with me.

Tiffany: Brian, where are you originally from?
Brian: I'm originally from New Orleans.

Tiffany: So how long have you been writing?
Brian: I've been writing professionally five years.

Tiffany:Was writing your first love or is there something else you wanted to do?
Brian: Unlike a lot of other authors, I never thought about writing while growing up. I never thought about writing until I went through some personal things. Those experiences led to me writing my book, Mama's Lies - Daddy's Pain out of hurt and frustration. My passion has always been entrepreneurship; I've always wanted to own several companies. Hollygrove Publishing is my third.

Tiffany: Are any of your books based on past or present experiences?
Brian: Mama's Lies - Daddy's Pain is "loosely" based on my life.

Tiffany: So Brian, out of all the books you have written, which is your favorite?
Brian: Good question. With as many interviews as I've given, this is the first time anyone has asked me this. Mama's Lies - Daddy's Pain is by far my most successful book (in terms of sales), but it's also my most painful book. I would have to say that my favorite book is probably Nina's Got A Secret...Donna's Dilemma is a close second. I just think those two books have the most unique concepts and the storylines were so interesting that I could have gone in numerous directions.

Tiffany: I understand that you have a publishing company. Can you tell me the name of it and how it was started?
Brian: I own Hollygrove Publishing. I opened it with the sole purpose of publishing my books, but that entrepreneurial spirit took over and now it has grown. We now have six authors (myself included) signed to contracts and 20 other authors under contract to contribute various anthologies.

Tiffany: If I was an aspiring writer how can I get signed by your publishing company?
Brian: You can go to the company website "About Us" page and see how to submit a manuscript.

Tiffany: Brian, I do know from you visiting us that you love to travel. How often do you travel? Do you travel to book clubs, stores or etc?
Brian: I travel three weekends out of each month. I'm usually somewhere in the country at a book signing, visiting with some book club, or at some type of conference/festival. I'm always grinding...these books don't sell themselves.

Tiffany: What can I look forward next from Hollygrove Publishing?
Brian: We have several titles coming out over the next six months: three anthologies and six Contemporary Fiction novels.

Brian, I thank you for taking the time out to sit down and talk with me. As always it has been a true pleasure speaking with you. I look forward to reading your books as wells as the new authors you have.
