Interview with Pat Tucker

Daddy By Default Interview
With Pat Tucker

I recently had the pleasure of talking with Author Pat Tucker. By day, Pat Tucker Wilson works as a radio news director in Houston, TX. By night, she is a talented writer with a knack for telling page-turning stories. A former television news reporter, she draws on her background to craft stories readers will love. With more than 15 years of media experience, the award-winning broadcast journalist has worked as a reporter for ABC, NBC and Fox affiliate TV stations and Radio stations in California and Texas. She also co-hosts the literary talk show, From Cover to Cover.

Tiffany: We would like to thank you for allowing us to interview you. Now to the juicy stuff. Now Pat, can you tell the readers if you have always wanted to be a writer?
PT: I've always had a passion for both reading and writing. The ability to visit other places and other people through the pages of a book. As a journalist by trade-I read and write everyday.

Tiffany: Since you always wanted to be a writer, when did you first take your writing seriously?
PT: Well Tiffany, in college a professor commented on a term paper and said that I needed to write novels... although I didn't get an A on that paper, his comments made me start to consider the possibility.

Tiffany: What has been your greatest obstacle as a writer?
PT: My greatest obstacle has been spreading the word about my work. It's a challenge for all writers-so I always tell people, if you enjoy my work-please introduce it to someone who has never heard of me before.

Tiffany:  Pat can you tell me what you want readers to get from your present work?
PT: Of course Tiffany, when people read Daddy by Default I hope they come away with a better awareness of the laws or lack there of that govern the growing problem of Paternity Fraud. I believe everyone who knows, cares about, or loves a man should read this book.

Tiffany:  What inspires you to write?
PT: I'm inspired by a variety of stories, topics, incidents and issues. Often times I'm inspired by stories other people tell me about their experiences good and bad. So basically people and their experiences are what inspires me to write.

Tiffany: How do you research the materials for your work?
PT: I take research seriously, but the internet has made it so very easy. In addition to the internet, I talk to people, conduct interviews, and of course read books.

Tiffany:  Do you create characters before you begin your story?
PT: I think most writers do. I begin character development with a name. Once I choose a name, that character begins to talk to me, yes, as in, talk to me in my head! But once a character is born it's hard for me to ignore their voice until the story is told.

Tiffany: Are there notable authors who have influenced your writing?
PT:: I admire the works of so many authors the list is far too long to name. But I read everything from Christan Fiction, to Street Fiction to Contemporary Fiction, Suspense, and even a bit of romance. I am a book connoisseur-I am passionate about the written word and find value in every book.

Tiffany:  What do you have coming up next for your readers?
PT:  Football Widows is slated for next summer. That's a book about a bunch of NFL Coach's wives and all they do while their husbands are focused on the season. It's a fun and sexy read.

Tiffany:   I love meeting new authors as well as book clubs and book stores do. Are you willing to travel to different book stores and book Clubs?
PT: I travel to visit with Book Clubs as often as they'll have me. I've done conference calls, Skype meetings and whatever they've requested. I'd like to think I'm fun at book club meetings... hint-hint!

Tiffany:  Now, I know this is gonna start some controversy, but who are some of your biggest supports? Why?
PT: Some of my biggest supporters are other authors. There's no better feeling than having the support from your peers. My family is also always very supportive of my work (but they have to be) I often have family members who throw book release parties, my sister (an educator) started a book club so she could help promote my work. I'm very blessed to have a successful writing career and a host of friends and family who champion for my work and tirelessly promote my work as if they're being paid to be my personal cheerleaders. Many of them are busy spreading the word about Daddy by Default as we speak. If you haven't read it..please pick up a copy everywhere books are sold!

Once again, we would like to thank you for taking time out your busy schedule to talk with us. Daddy by Default gets***** Stars from MzTiffanyDivine Book Reviews.
